universal studios beijing

Planning a trip to Beijing and love theme park? Then Universal Studios Beijing is the perfect place for you and your family. Opened in 2021, Universal Studios Beijing is currently one of the newest and biggest Universal theme parks in the world, featuring amazing themed lands, exclusive attractions, and surprisingly good food.

In this guide, we’ll cover everything you need to know before visiting, from tickets and transportation to the best rides and hotels nearby.

Where is Universal Studios Beijing

Universal Beijing Resort is located in the Tongzhou District of Beijing, around 25–35 minutes from Beijing city center depending on traffic and where you stay.

The resort includes:

  • Universal Studios Beijing theme park
  • Universal CityWalk Beijing
  • Two official resort hotels

One thing we really liked is how modern and organized the area feels. The whole resort was clearly designed for tourists, making it easy to navigate even for first-time visitors to China.

How to Get to Universal Studios Beijing

Getting to Universal Studios Beijing is actually very easy thanks to Beijing’s excellent public transportation system.

By Subway (Best Option)

The easiest and cheapest way is by subway. Take Beijing Subway Line 1 or Batong Line, then stop at Universal Resort Station (环球度假区站)

From the station, it’s just a short walk directly to the park entrance.

If you’re staying somewhere central like Wangfujing or near Tiananmen, the subway is usually the fastest option because Beijing traffic can get very busy.

By Taxi or Didi

You can also take taxi or didi (China’s version of Uber). This is more comfortable if you’re traveling with family or carrying a lot of shopping bags after your visit. However, traffic in Beijing can be unpredictable, especially during weekends and holidays.

By Private Transfer

Many travelers also book private transfers online for convenience, especially if they don’t want to deal with Chinese apps or public transportation.

This option is great for:

  • Families with kids
  • Large groups
  • First-time visitors to China

Universal Studios Beijing Tickets & Discount

Tickets for Universal Studios Beijing can sell out very quickly, especially during:

  • Weekends
  • Chinese public holidays
  • Summer season
  • Winter holiday season

Because of this, we highly recommend booking your tickets in advance.

To avoid sold out, you can book your tickets through Klook to secure your spot before arriving in Beijing. Even better, you can get 5% off on Klook using code KLOOKXNESSA

Klook is also convenient because:

  • English booking process
  • Easy mobile vouchers
  • Multiple payment methods
  • Often cheaper than buying onsite

Ticket prices usually vary depending on:

  • Weekday vs weekend
  • Peak season vs regular season
  • Special events

Best Rides & Attractions at Universal Studios Beijing

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey is easily one of the best rides in the park. The queue itself feels like walking through Hogwarts Castle, and the ride combines motion simulation with physical sets incredibly well.

Even if you’re not a huge Harry Potter fan, this area is still worth visiting because the details are amazing.

Is Universal Studios Beijing Worth Visiting? (Honest Review)

Yes, absolutely. Universal Studios Beijing honestly exceeded our expectations. The park feels less chaotic compared to some other major theme parks in Asia, especially on weekdays.

Here’s what we loved:

  • Extremely immersive themed lands
  • Modern ride technology
  • Clean and organized environment
  • Unique attractions exclusive to Beijing
  • Surprisingly good food
  • Easy transportation

However, there are still some things to keep in mind:

  • Weekends can get very crowded
  • Some rides may have long wait times
  • Food inside is expensive
  • Many shows and announcements are mainly in Chinese

But overall, if you’re visiting Beijing and enjoy theme parks at all, this place is definitely worth adding to your itinerary.

Even people who are not huge Universal fans will probably still have a great time here.
