Tokyo DisneySea isn’t just another Disney park—it’s the only DisneySea in the world, and honestly, it feels completely different from anything you’ve seen before. Sitting just outside central Tokyo, it’s one of the most popular theme parks in Japan—and once you step inside, it’s easy to see why.
If I had to choose between Tokyo DisneySea or Disneyland, I would pick DisneySea. Here’s why:
- DisneySea is geared more towards adults, with thrilling rides and immersive “port” experiences.
- Disneyland is more family-friendly, perfect for kids and those looking for a classic Disney experience.
Tips for Tokyo DisneySea
1. Download the Tokyo Disney Resort App
The Tokyo Disney Resort app is your best friend for navigating the park. With it, you can:
- Check real-time wait times for rides and attractions
- View the park map and show schedules
- Purchase Disney Premier Access (paid express pass)
2. Purchase Your Ticket in Advance
Buying your ticket ahead of time saves you from long lines and possible sell-outs.

- You can only purchase after entering the park using the Tokyo Disney Resort app
- Prices start at JPY 1,500 per person, per ride (varies by attraction)
- You can only hold one Premier Access at a time
- You must use your current pass before buying another
- You can choose your preferred entry time for each ride
This is the fastest way to enjoy more attractions without waiting 2–3 hours in line.
How to Get to Tokyo DisneySea
The easiest way to reach Tokyo Disney Resort by train:
- Take the JR Keiyo Line or JR Musashino Line to Maihama Station
- Transfer to the Disney Resort Line (Mickey Train)
- Get off at Tokyo DisneySea Station
Best Hotels to Stay in Tokyo DisneySea
If you want a more relaxed and unhurried experience, consider booking a 2-day Tokyo DisneySea pass and staying in one of their iconic, luxurious hotels. Here are our hotel recommendations around the area:
- Tokyo Disneyland Hotel: Good location, great view, and located just walking distance to Tokyo DisneySea
- Disney Ambassador Hotel: 10 minutes walk from Tokyo DisneySea, family friendly hote, great view
- Sheraton Grande Tokyo Bay Hotel: More affordable than the two hotels above, this option is located 3 km from Tokyo DisneySea and offers a free shuttle bus service to the park.
Note: Hotels here are pricey due to limited availability, so book early!
Best Time to Visit Tokyo DisneySea
Even on weekdays, Tokyo DisneySea is busy, but peak seasons can mean 2–3 hour waits per ride.
Try to avoid visiting during major Japanese holidays:
- Golden Week (late April to early May)
- Summer Vacation (July and August)
- Year-end Holidays (late December to early January)
