LEGOLAND Shanghai is the largest LEGOLAND in the world, officially opened in July 2025. From our experience, this theme park is best suited for families with young children and LEGO lovers.
Most attractions here are designed specifically for kids. Even the roller coasters have a minimum height requirement of only 100 cm, and we saw many small children riding them without fear. There are also plenty of kid-only play zones and interactive LEGO activities throughout the park.
That said, if you’re an adult who isn’t particularly into LEGO, you may find LEGOLAND Shanghai a bit underwhelming. In that case, Shanghai Disneyland or Universal Studios Beijing might be better options.
Where Is LEGOLAND Shanghai Located?
LEGOLAND Shanghai is located outside Shanghai’s city center, so transportation planning is important—especially if you’re traveling with kids.
How to Get to LEGOLAND Shanghai
🚗 The easiest option is ride-hailing via Didi, especially for families. It took 2 hours from city center to the theme park
🛌 Staying nearby is highly recommended to avoid long travel times

Canopy by Hilton Shanghai Belfry Plaza
A more elegant and affordable alternative within walking distance of the park. Ideal if you want comfort without heavy LEGO theming.
LEGOLAND Shanghai is directly connected to Belfry Plaza, a semi–outdoor shopping and dining complex. You’ll find plenty of restaurants, cafés, and shops here. Food options are significantly better and cheaper than inside the park, making it a great place to eat after your visit.

Best Rides & Attractions at LEGOLAND Shanghai
Here are our personal highlights from the park:
Big LEGO Coaster
The most thrilling ride at LEGOLAND Shanghai. Honestly, it felt slightly scary for me (Nessa), but Linardo didn’t find it thrilling at all. Still, it’s the closest thing to an adrenaline ride here.
Miniland (Must-See)
The absolute highlight of the park. This indoor attraction features detailed LEGO replicas of Shanghai and famous landmarks across China. We spent almost an hour here — the craftsmanship and detail are genuinely impressive.
LEGO City Area
Even without riding many attractions, simply walking through LEGO City and seeing life-sized LEGO buildings is fun, especially for first-time visitors.
Overall, we didn’t go on many rides because many attractions are very child-focused. That said, exploring the park and admiring the LEGO creations was still enjoyable.
Food & Restaurants at LEGOLAND Shanghai
We tried two restaurants inside the park:
Hungry Dragon Chef
We ordered the LEGO Wagyu burger. It tasted very average for the price (RMB 80) and didn’t feel worth it.
LEGO Ninjago Restaurant
Serves Asian-style dishes. The beef noodle soup was filling and tasted decent, also priced around RMB 80.
⚠️ Honest take: Food inside LEGOLAND Shanghai is convenient but overpriced for the quality.
LEGOLAND Shanghai Tips (Important to Know)
Drones and tripods are not allowed. You must store them in lockers and pay a storage fee.
Skip dinner inside the park. After exiting, head to Belfry Plaza for better and cheaper food.
This park is best enjoyed at a slow pace, especially with kids — no need to rush rides.

Open daily from 10:00 AM
Closing times vary between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM
Always check the official calendar before visiting
Is LEGOLAND Shanghai worth it for adults?
Not really. Most rides are designed for children and may feel boring if you’re visiting without kids or strong interest in LEGO.
How crowded is LEGOLAND Shanghai?
We visited on a Friday, and the park was not crowded at all. The longest wait time we experienced was only 10–15 minutes.
Is LEGOLAND Shanghai Worth Visiting? (Honest Review)
Our honest verdict: LEGOLAND Shanghai is worth visiting only if you’re traveling with kids or you’re a serious LEGO fan.
Linardo and I aren’t huge LEGO fans, so we found the park slightly boring overall. However, since it was our first time visiting a LEGOLAND, it was still interesting to experience a full-scale theme park built almost entirely from LEGO.
If you’re expecting intense rides like Universal Studios, you’ll be disappointed. Most attractions here are gentle, slow-paced, and kid-friendly.
That said, Miniland alone is genuinely impressive and was our biggest highlight of the entire park.
