Foshan is a city just 30 minutes away from Guangzhou that has so much to offer, but people still don’t know much about it. Most of the attractions here also don’t have an entrance fee, making it such an affordable day trip from Guangzhou.
How to Get to Foshan From Guangzhou
Located right next to Guangzhou, Foshan is one of the easiest cities to visit for a day trip in Guangdong. Known for its rich Cantonese culture, traditional architecture, delicious food, and famous attractions such as Ancestral Temple and Lingnan Tiandi, Foshan is definitely worth adding to your Guangzhou itinerary.
The best part? Getting from Guangzhou to Foshan is incredibly convenient. Depending on where you are staying and which part of Foshan you want to visit, there are several transportation options available.
1. High Speed Train 🚄 (Most Popular and Easiest Option)
There are frequent trains connecting Guangzhou Railway Station and Guangzhou South Railway Station with several stations in Foshan.
The journey itself can be incredibly quick, sometimes taking less than 30 minutes. However, keep in mind that you will need additional transportation from the railway station to the attractions you want to visit.

2. Private Car/Taxi 🚕 (More Flexible but Pricey)
If you are traveling as a group or prefer a more comfortable journey, taking a taxi or ride-hailing service is another convenient option.
The journey from central Guangzhou to central Foshan usually takes around 45 minutes to one hour, depending on traffic. Using ride-hailing apps such as Didi can be convenient, especially if you want to travel directly to your destination without dealing with transfers.

Places to Visit in Foshan
1. Lingnan Xintiandi 岭南新天地
⭐️ Wow Factor: 8/10
A shopping pedestrian street that is very similar to Xintiandi in Shanghai, but much bigger and newer. There are so many restaurants, cafés, and local shops you can explore here.
2. Foshan Grand Theater 佛山大剧院
⭐️ Wow Factor: 6/10
A very unique-looking building that looks like squares stacked on top of each other. I don’t think the theater is operating anymore, but it still looks super aesthetic and is worth checking out.
3. Louvre Foshan 罗浮宫家居
⭐️ Wow Factor: 9/10
A huge furniture mall that has become a AAAA tourist destination because of how aesthetic it looks. Even if you’re not shopping, it’s still really interesting to explore.
Every floor sells different types of furniture, and you’ll find some amazing architectural features inside the building, including Constellation Square, the Golden Hall, and the Chair Tower.
4. Nanfeng Ancient Kiln 南风古灶
⭐️ Wow Factor: 7/10
The world’s oldest continuously operating wood-fired dragon kiln, with its fires burning for over 500 years since the Ming Dynasty.
If you’re into ceramic goods, you can find so many of them here. But even if you’re not, it’s still an interesting historic destination to check out and learn more about Foshan’s ceramic-making history.
5. Chuihong Road 垂虹路
⭐️ Wow Factor: 5/10
A great place if you’re looking for hidden, aesthetic cafés. It’s perfect for chilling, grabbing a coffee, and just enjoying the quiet side of the city.
6. Foshan Television Tower 佛山电视塔
⭐️ Wow Factor: 7/10
A park where the Foshan Television Tower is located. A lot of locals come here for a stroll around sunset.
The tower is beautiful, and the whole area lights up at night, making it a nice place to visit in the evening.

How to Get Around Foshan
Even though Foshan is a relatively small city, it has a Metro system and buses that can take you to most places.
But if you’re too lazy to take public transportation, you can always use ride-hailing apps, which are very affordable in China.
We spent one full day in Foshan and really enjoyed our time there. It’s such an underrated destination and definitely worth adding to your Guangzhou itinerary if you have an extra day!
Best Time to Visit Foshan
Since Foshan is a very underrated destination and doesn’t really depend on seasonal colors, it’s nice to visit all year round.
Weekends can get busier, so if you have time, visiting on a weekday would be better. Also, try to avoid rainy days because some of the attractions are outdoors.

Located directly connected to the Louvre International Furniture Exhibition Center, placing you right in the heart of China’s famous furniture capital. If you want to stay in the heart of Foshan’s cultural district, Cordis is an excellent choice. Located near the historic Lingnan Tiandi area and is within walking distance Xintiandi. The hotel combines modern luxury with traditional Lingnan influences, and one of its highlights is that many rooms feature private balconies overlooking Lingnan Tiandi or the city skyline. - InterContinental Hotels Foshan
InterContinental Foshan offers a completely different atmosphere from staying in central Foshan. The hotel overlooks the beautiful Qiandeng Lake and is surrounded by landscaped gardens and a tranquil canal, creating a relaxing resort-like environment within the city. It is especially suitable for travelers looking for a peaceful luxury stay, with facilities including an outdoor swimming pool, spa, fitness center, and multiple restaurants.
Is Foshan Worth Visiting?
