3. Retail Therapy and Delights: As you explore Taipei 101, you’ll discover a world of shopping opportunities and tons of dining options. From stylish boutiques to enticing restaurants, this iconic tower has it all.

4. New Year’s Fireworks: If you’re in town on New Year’s Eve, don’t miss the amazing fireworks at Taipei 101. The sky around the tower lights up with a stunning show that kicks off the new year in a spectacular way.

Shopping Districts

*Ximending 西門.

If you’re looking for a shopping spree, Ximending is your go-to place. This trendy district is Taipei’s equivalent to Tokyo’s Harajuku, offering a blend of local boutiques and international brands. Moreover, you’ll come across numerous souvenir shops and delectable street food options here.

*ZhongShan

ZhongShan is another fantastic shopping district, where you can find fashion-forward boutiques and delectable street food. A perfect spot for a leisurely stroll and some retail therapy. You’ll also find many thrift shops and cute cafes around here.

*ZhongXiao DunHua 忠孝敦化

ZhongXiao DunHua is a busy street known for its upscale shopping, which includes both malls and a mix of big-brands and local brands. It’s also a vibrant dining and nightlife destination with plenty of bars and clubs, making it even livelier.

Day Trip to Jiufen & Shifen

*Shifen 十分

Shifen is a well-loved spot in Taipei, known for its impressive waterfall, one of the biggest in the city.

After enjoying the natural beauty, you can take a short 10-15 minute walk to Shifen Old Street, where you can take part in the wonderful tradition of releasing lanterns with wishes.

*Jiufen

Jiufen is a charming historic street that has a unique appeal. This area is famous for its teahouses, with A-Mei Tea House, inspired by the movie “Spirited Away,” being a popular choice. There’s also plenty of delicious food and interesting shops. The best time to go is after 4 PM, when they light up the lanterns, creating a truly magical atmosphere.

How to get there: You can get here by taking a direct bus no. 965 from Ximen Station to JiouFen Old St. Station.

Nature & Hiking Trails

*Yang Ming Shan陽明山

Explore Yang Ming Shan National Park for extra hiking choices and to enjoy Taiwan’s natural beauty. You can catch bus 260 directly from Taipei Main Station or Red 5 from JianTan Station.

*JinMianShan金面山

You can reach JinMianShan via the Xihu MRT. From the top, you can get a view of the airport. The hike can be a bit challenging because the path is rocky and you’ll need to use a rope, but only towards the end.

*YinHe Cave Trail 銀河

Starting from Taipei Zoo, take the Maokong Gondola up to find the trailhead. It’s a hidden gem that promises a serene escape from the city’s hustle and bustle.

*XiangShan像山

Nature enthusiasts will love hiking up XiangShan, where you can get a close-up view of Taipei 101. The panoramic scenery from this green hill is stunning, particularly at sunrise or sunset.
